Audible & iBooks Are Much Better!

Terrible. Very difficult to highlight while reading - You must press pretty hard, or soft, havent quite figured that out yet. Also, its difficult to see. The screen for this app on both the iPhone and Surface Pro are either too zoomed and blurry, or too small. Audible and iBooks are such better platforms!

Great!

Great and the prices are good.

Glad to have this

Havent read books at all in the past few years but, starting to so I can have more information on things

does not work with external keyboards

Whenever I try to use this app with an external bluetooth keyboard (any Logitech ipad keyboard), none of the key combination I can think of will navigate through the pages. This is a bizarre bug specific to this reader, and I really wish Google aligns with normal reading behavior soon (only the function keys work, the rest this app disables).

Good for comics

Ive enjoyed reading volumes and issues of various comics using the app.

Awesome reader

Ive used lots of readers, but this is my favorite. Easy to import books and it works rock solid.

Enjoy the app.

I enjoy the app and the variety of books that I can read. It doesnt work seamlessly on some apple devices, but I enjoy it on the ones I can use.

Great app

Ive never had an issue with the app. I use both droid and apple products and have had nothing problem syncing the books I read on each device. It even prompts me that I read the book on another device, the I was on and if I want to go to the same page. Ive used this app for a while and I love it.

Good!

Love it! And I like the $1 coupons sent to my email. Switched to GooglePlay because Amazon advertises on Breitbart.

Easy to use and read

Every time I open the app it comes up with the book Im reading and the page Im on with no hassle. The night shade reading is nice and makes it feel more like a book- which is appealing to me.

Good buuut.

Great book app. But reading to my kids at night has gotten expensive. The only thing missing from this app in my opinion is there is no subscription service. Other than that its great!

Irritating

The biggest irritation for me is, where is the "shop" button. It has been removed from the selections on the menu on the google play books. Leaving one to exit the app to go to another app to purchase books. Add to that the frequent crashes and other issues. Update The most recent "fix" has made things worse. I had to go through the trials of Hercules to purchase some books to add to the library and now I am not able to load the books, for which I paid good money to my app and so far I have to been able to view them anywhere else. Thanks a lot google.

My #1 choice

Ive used several reading apps, but I always come back to play books. Gives me everything I need, no complaints ?

Its not bad.

Next to not having a normal book at hand and a natural feel of reading, comes close.

Crashes when I attempt a search

Youd think Google could figure out how to do a search within a book without crashing. But they havent bothered to fix this obvious defect.

Great!

Works well great fonts and nice and clean UI

New App Version

Whatever you guys did to this wonderful app, reverse it, youve destroyed it! I can no longer search for or buy new books as there is no option for this. The only books available are free samples and thats it. This is a pointless app that I will be removing from my phone and find another. Oh and the actual help section is even worse. What are you idiots doing?

Free books!

You can get free books on here! The settings are a little rudimentary, but perfectly acceptable.

Good for books.

Good for reading books but not for reading Comics.

Not as good as iBooks

I had been reading a public domain book in ePub format ("1984" by George Orwell, provided by Adelaide Univ.) using iBooks. I wished its sharing features were better, so I decided to try Google Play Books (GPB). Loading the book was easy, but slower. The display of the book is not as good. iBooks shows the cover and title pages independently, as they should be. GPB doesnt and it looks cheap. GPB also makes me swipe pages to turn them, but iBooks also allows a tap at the side of the page. Making marks and notes in GPB is tedious. I expected a LOT better from Google than this. Its very disappointing.
